Statistical computing is at the interface between statistics (mathematical statistics), mathematics (numerical analysis) and computer science (programming and optimization).

What can we do when a statistical estimate is not available in closed form?

Answer: Compute our way out of it!

Goals for the Course:

1. Be able to use R and RStudio to implement traditional and state-of-the-art methods in computational statistics.
2. Be able to recognize when these methods are required.
3. Have an enhanced understanding of statistics.
